With you on the usefulness of Medicare. I don&#039;t mind paying the levy at all, and if I don&#039;t use it for my family, the fact that someone who needs it uses my share is OK by me.

The alternative is a two tier health system, with a large number of ill people turning to crime, begging or dying from preventable causes.

What really busts my hump is the fact that my income tax is being used to prop up an unsustainable private health industry through rebates.

So much for free market economics.

Good on you for going to the GP rather than the emergency ward.
